Reviews: All the children from the New Entrants to Year 6 were thoroughly engaged with the experience. Your enthusiasm was infectious and the whole experience was child friendly. We greatly appreciated the cultural aspects. You scaffolded the learning for us with the lyrics and the actions. You were very professional. The music was diverse and interesting. We loved the accompanied and unaccompanied singing. You managed the children's attention well with active listening, participation, singing rounds, using instruments. Fantastic. The range of activities, including performance, storytelling, rhythm and percussion activities, singing and movement together was effective - and don’t forget just pure listening to music. Your material was very original and creative.
Makauri School, NZ. The songs you have created and performed for us were so captivating - lyrically, melodically and instrumentally. For us to participate was no mere "sing-along with me”, but a wonderful invitation to participate in joyful harmonies and in complex catchy rhythms that we had no idea we were capable of! You addressed all levels of the school with engaging warmth, connecting easily to them and understanding their journey. And what gifts you have left with us - the many songs that support our use of te reo [language], and the aroha [love] within them. Lokita Rigney, Class Teacher, Motueka Steiner School, NZ. We were carried away by exceptional musical talent and mesmerizing story telling. We encountered "Porowhita”- Maori Songs in rich vocal harmonies sung in call and answer rhythms as well as original folk/pop style music. We all, lower Graders, middle Graders and teachers were spell-bound. We listened, learned, participated, were touched and inspired. Please give this opportunity to the children of your school.
